Mrs. Casagrande
Charm City Virtual Principal

Welcome to Charm City Virtual!

Throughout the course of the 2020-2021 school year, challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic provided opportunities for Baltimore City Public Schools to evolve in its approach to educating the 21st century learner. Charm City Virtual, the elementary and middle school virtual learning program, is a result of City School’s commitment to innovation, flexible learning, and prioritizing the academic success of all students. This school year we have merged campuses under one leadership; however, are still committed to providing a presence on east and west Baltimore.

I am both honored and humbled to be continuing to serve the wonderful families and students of Charm City Virtual. I have been dedicated to serving students in City Schools for eighteen years as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrator. Throughout my career in education, my leadership vision has been grounded in creating systems that bring about a culture of continuous learning for the entire community. I have had success in building relationships with school communities in order to create a space that is marked by self-reflection, perseverance, and continuous growth. I am eager to continue to develop and cultivate an optimal environment for our students’ success in the virtual setting.

We all can agree that the current times bring about a unique challenge for us all. In the midst of so many uncertainties and changes, it is our goal at Charm City Virtual to continue to provide personalized instruction, innovative learning opportunities, and social emotional connections to support all students, ensuring their academic, emotional and social success. At Charm City Virtual our students will have a safe, flexible, and tailored learning environment where we are committed to striving towards success every day.

As we prepare for the opening of our second school year, we want to direct your attention to some important resources, dates, and next steps.

  • We will be hosting a meet and greet for our new families. Please join the Charm City Virtual Administration Team on Thursday, August 11th from either 9:00-10:00 OR 4:00-5:00 on zoom using the following link: https://bcps-k12-md-us.zoom.us/j/86888699101

  • At Charm City Virtual, we value a strong home to school partnership. We will continue to provide updates and important information on our website, www.charmcityvirtual.com and communicate this through our weekly parent newsletter, The Weekly Charge. We continue to encourage two- way communication. Make sure you are following the correct channels by first reaching out to your child’s classroom teacher to get the quickest, most accurate response to your question and or concern. During the remainder of the summer, please contact our office and we will be happy to address your question and or concern (410-291-2346 or 410-291-2456).

  • This year we will be implementing a new Learning Management System entitled, Schoology, to better support our students, families, and teachers. To best support our families we will be hosting Parent Universities where parents and students will receive training. In addition to this training, families will receive all of their materials and additional equipment. CLICK HERE for the dates, times, and locations. It is imperative that you submit an RSVP form to ensure your child’s equipment and materials are at the appropriate location.

In addition to the materials and supplies we will be providing at our Parent Universities, parents and students will need to purchase their own supplies just as in brick and mortar. Our supply list, by grade, is attached HERE and also located on our website (www.charmcityvirtual.com).

I am honored to have the opportunity to continue to lead and learn with you during this dynamic year.

Charged Up, Powered Up,
