MCAP (State Testing)

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that states administer annual statewide assessments to all students in English Language Arts/Literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and an annual English language proficiency assessment for all English learners. Maryland also provides alternate assessments for those students who require this accommodation.

In compliance with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), City Schools will administer mandatory Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) assessments to students during Winter/Spring 2024. These assessments are not available to be taken virtually from home. Students who are receiving instruction virtually are required to take the test in-person. On this page, you will find the details for our upcoming state tests.
